BREAKING NEWS: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala named World Bank President

Today, Nigeria set her foot in the sands of time, making history and making the whole of Africa proud by Producing the First-ever World Bank President from Africa. Our own daughter-of-the-soil Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is to direct world economy. As from today Nigeria will have a greater say in the World Bank, and consequently the vision 2020 will now become a more visible possibility for Nigeria.

Latest reports reaching us in the early hours of today revealed that. Dr. Jim Yong Kim, a South Korea-born, naturalised American and President Barack Obama’s nominee who was a strong contender for the post yesterday night withdrew from the race to become the new world Bank president sighting fears of him being not capable for the position, due to personal issues that he's currently facing with his family.

Kim, who is the President (Vice-Chancellor) of Dartmouth College, New Hampshire and reputed as a global expert on health matters. said "Its sad to admit it, but i must say this is the end of the road for me now, i have to be accountable for what goes on in my home first before i direct world affairs"

In an unexpected development,  Jose Antonio Ocampo, former finance minister of Colombia and the Ngozi's other opponent declared on National Televison, RCN TV that he has decided to step down for Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, therefore she became the only candidate for world bank precidency.

she will now take over from current President, Robert B. Zoellick

In a phone call conversation with newsmen in the early hours of today, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala couldnt hide her joy in what she described as "Destiny finally fulfilled"

"I have a God who never fails, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob never fails me. i am so happy" she said

  15. Its ok. Nigerians are dreaming of having their own citizen manage the world economy, its just because there is maximum degree of trust in her.
We pray she maintain that TRUST.

  16. If a human being farts now they want to know the spiritual implication! Haba! Why don't u ask if comedy is scriptural, at least that's one safe medium comedians explore to diffuse hard talk. Nigerian Eye played a prank on the whole world on a fools day....live with it!

How can she be the president of world bank when she has failed as the finance minister.what makes u think she's deserves it? Or what has she done to deserve it? I pray she never becomes the president of world bank. After inflicting pain on poor nigerians by removing fuel subsidy. Y'all are crazy for thinking God will ever let her have the position.Mtsew

I used to think this media is supposed to be a responsible news reporting agency.
Maybe for instance, The Punch too or other responsible media should as well raise headlines as such and note for readers to check the date.

  21. Let's not behave like saddists and go with the joke. Life must not always be serious affairs only. Sometimes, we share jokes to diffuse tension. Ride on NigerianEye, we are right behind you. And Ngozi Iwuala, I want her to become the World Bank President. I am glad a Nigerian was even nominated! Let's learn to rejoice over another's success so success can also come our ways.

  22. Nice one may it come to pass. If the world see her as a failure finance minister in Nigeria by axing cabals, she will not be nominated. The world has no interest in Nigeria's false FUEL SUBSIDY. Direct your anger on those that sabotage fuel subsidy.

  54. In as much as 'April fools' day is celebrated, NigerianEye is a media agency not just a group of social youths. The whole world is reading this news so this is quite expensive. To all those saying its just a joke, imagine President Goodluck Jonathan making a speech on the 1st of April that minimum wage has been increased by 100%, or fuel price reduced to #20, then later saying its April fool. There would be another riot in Nigeria as people would not take it lightly. Pls NigerianEye, in as much as you like to ease our stress and make us laugh, remember this is a news site. This is not facebook, twitter, nor an entertainment site. As much as i appreciate your news updates(which i always look forward to), i really think you over-did it this time. I will advise your administrator to please correct this mistake by writing a speech and ensuring it doesn't happen again.

    Thanks.

  56. NigerianEye,

Trust me, this is may be the end of the road for you. You may be on the verge of ruining yourself.Do not mind all those saying this is allowable! Who is the boss over there? Are there professionals in NigerianEye? Who brought up this silly and childish idea?

However, the situation is redeemable. Begin right now to send out apologies. I am a very concerned reader. Otherwise, I would have kept quiet and watch you crumble.

    By gosh! How could you?

Well, if you do not get sued, it is a miracle.

  58. NigerianEye certainly has indirectly informed us who their target audience is: children.

Imagine Reuters or AP or Thisday newspaper doing this.

Anyway, the writer does have a deep sense of humour seeking ways of outlet.

  59. Well, you misplaced your joke, you made people not to trust your news next time. Bye

  60. Even after telling us it is a joke people are still angry. the anger of these people have nothing to do with the joke, they have personal issues and they would have reacted to any other joke the same way, they bring their personal issues into other affairs. it is a joke what else do you want to be told!.

  61. David says......

Wait a minute! I'm not so clear about this?
Can CNN makes an April fool out of world affair- that is still fresh in the minds of millions of people around the world? Can BBC even do the same?
When we are complaining about our rulers and David Mark, in particular? They show no feelings toward the plight of every Nigerians. And you guys at Nigerianeye knew it and that is part of the peculiar Nigerian system you are fighting to correct daily.
With this story, this is not April fool; you are simply being insensitive to millions of people's feelings toward world issue- that is still as fresh as anything.
You guys don’t need to take it rough! I must confess to you- your so called April fool seemed out of context. The media cannot afford, in fact cannot justify making April fool out of events- real or imagined!

  62. Great Nigerians Great people!!! one thing i love about Nigerians is that, when we are here at home, we fight each other, castigate, open each others yansh, destroy, wound and killed each other as if we are our worse enemies, but when it comes to us in the world out there, we cover up each others back even if the back is rotten it doesn't matter. if only we could practice that too here at home to each other, Nigeria will be the best place to be on this planet earth.
