President Goodluck Jonathan has vowed to deal decisively with any persons found culpable in the Suleja bomb attack. Mr Jonathan described the attack as “most deplorable, callous, cowardly and wicked”.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media, Ima Niboro, on Thursday in Abuja, said the president strongly condemned the attack.
“President Goodluck Jonathan has directed all national security agencies to step up intelligence and surveillance operations across the country to thwart any further attempts by enemies of democracy to unleash politically-motivated violence on innocent Nigerians,” the statement said.
It condoled with the families of those who lost their lives in the dastardly attack and commiserated with the injured, who are receiving treatment.
The statement urged Nigerians not to be intimidated by “enemies of progress in the country”, who are responsible for the Suleja attack and other acts of violence aimed at creating the impression that free, fair and violence-free elections are not possible in the country.
According to the statement, one person has been arrested in connection with the attack.
